Find Wrocław's bronze dwarfs — map, walking routes and a GPS check-in game
WROCŁAW HIDES 1000+ DWARFS.
You have walked past a dozen of them without looking down. Open the map, walk up to one, check in — every dwarf you find is yours to keep.
Three steps. Nothing to install.
Pick a route, or just open the map
Start with a ready-made walk like the Rynek Quest, or open the map and head for whichever dwarf is nearest.
Get close, then check in
Inside 15 metres the check-in button unlocks. Your phone's GPS does the proving, so a find means you were really there.
Keep the card, keep the XP
Every first find drops that dwarf's collectible card, in one of five rarities. Cards, XP, levels and badges stack up in your profile.
Let a route do the navigating
RYNEK QUEST
Hunt every dwarf around Wrocław's iconic Market Square! Explore hidden corners and collect all 22 bronze figurines scattered across the Rynek.
Meet Wedelek
WEDELEK
Wedelek is one of the original five dwarfs from 2005 — a tribute to the iconic E. Wedel chocolate brand. You'll find him keeping watch over Rynek 59.
The walk ends. The collection doesn't.
Cards, XP, ranks and badges, all saved to your profile. Below is what one looks like a few weekends in — yours starts empty, and free.
Every one has a name, a story and a hiding spot.
Questions, answered.
How many dwarfs are there in Wrocław?
More than 1,000 bronze dwarfs, and new ones keep appearing. WRO.app maps most of them and keeps adding more, so there is always another one to find.
Is WRO.app free?
Yes. The map, GPS check-ins, collectible cards and the Rynek Quest are free. Longer routes like the Old Town Family Walk unlock when you finish the Four Winds quest (four dwarfs on the Market Square), or with the optional Explorer Pass.
Do I need to install an app?
No. WRO.app runs in your phone's browser, on any phone. Open wro.app, pick a route and start walking.
How does checking in work?
When you are within 15 metres of a dwarf, the check-in button unlocks. Your phone's GPS confirms you are really there, and your first find of each dwarf drops its collectible card.
Can I play with kids?
Yes. Routes are short walks on city pavements, and the Old Town Family Walk is written for children of about 6 to 12 (around 2.7 km, 2.5 to 3 hours with stops). Finding dwarfs is a hunt kids enjoy.
Which was the first dwarf in Wrocław?
Papa Krasnal, unveiled on 1 June 2001 on Świdnicka Street. He honours the Orange Alternative movement of the 1980s, whose street happenings started the dwarf tradition.
Is WRO.app available in Polish?
Yes. Every page is available in English and Polish, and you can switch language from the menu.
The nearest dwarf is closer than you think.
Free, no app to install, works in your phone's browser. Pick a route, head outside, and check in when you find the first one.
