Story
Agencjusz stands on a small block of stone in the grass beside a metal service hatch, one arm raised high with something thin and pointed in his hand and the other held out open, as if he were about to announce important news. He wears a cap, a belt with a pouch and sturdy boots, and his beard is long and shaggy. It is a quiet corner, so he is easy to walk past - stop and look down, and he rewards you with a very busy little pose.
History & Significance
Agencjusz stands at Sztabowa 32 in the Powstańców Śląskich district and was made by sculptor Marlena Zakrzewska, according to wromap.pl. No installation date was found in the sources we could check. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a peaceful, absurdist protest movement founded in the city in 1986 by Waldemar Fydrych, whose members painted dwarfs on walls. Since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.
Inspiration
The sources we found do not say what or who inspired Agencjusz. The photo shows him next to a metal hatch bearing a plate with the letters AMW, which may hint at the place he guards, but we could not confirm a sponsor. His name ends in the cheerful -usz of many Wrocław dwarf names and begins like the Polish word for 'agency'.
