Story
Astemuś can be found at Bierutowska 91, the Psie Pole-Zawidawie district. The photo on wromap.pl shows a small, smiling dwarf with a rounded cap and a full beard, photographed close up against a glass window. wromap.pl spells his name Astemo; the database calls him Astemuś.
History & Significance
No sculptor, sponsor or unveiling date could be found for him. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; the city began commissioning bronze dwarfs in 2005, and local businesses and institutions have added many more since. Astemuś is one of the dwarfs outside the historic centre. Who commissioned this dwarf is not publicly documented in the sources we found.
Inspiration
wromap.pl lists him as Astemo, and Bierutowska 91 is the address of the company Astemo Poland, so his name probably nods to it, though no source confirms that. The sources we found do not describe a specific story behind this dwarf.
