Story

Dedaliusz stands at Bulwar Dedala on the Lokum da Vinci estate, a modern residential development at ul. Bajana in the Gadow Maly district. This daring little dwarf dreams of flight, his bronze wings spread wide as he measures the distance for his next takeoff attempt. Named after the legendary Greek inventor Daedalus, he brings mythological ambition to a thoroughly modern neighbourhood. Between his flying preparations, Dedaliusz invites residents and visitors to relax by the estate's impressive fountain and pergola, and he is always happy to strike a pose for photos.

History & Significance

Dedaliusz was installed on Bulwar Dedala, a promenade within the Lokum da Vinci residential estate developed by Lokum Deweloper. The estate, located between ul. Bajana and ul. Drzewieckiego in Gadow Maly, was built in four phases between 2012 and 2016 and comprises 682 apartments. The development is inspired by Leonardo da Vinci -- the renaissance painter, inventor, and engineer -- and its central plaza features a grand pergola and fountain modelled after the one at Wroclaw's Centennial Hall. Dedaliusz was commissioned by the developer to serve as the estate's mascot and guardian.

Inspiration

Dedaliusz takes his name from Daedalus, the brilliant craftsman of Greek mythology who fashioned wings to escape from Crete. The name perfectly suits the Lokum da Vinci estate, which is inspired by the genius of Leonardo da Vinci and his fascination with flight and engineering. The Bulwar Dedala (Daedalus Boulevard) where the dwarf stands was named to continue this aviation and invention theme. Lokum Deweloper, the company behind the development, created an estate that blends modern living with classical references, and Dedaliusz is the bronze cherry on top -- a dreamer who refuses to accept that dwarfs cannot fly.
