Story

Dialogomir is the most couch-bound dwarf in Wroclaw. Settled in his armchair on plac Solny, he divides his time between channel-surfing and talking on his phone, completely unbothered by the bustling flower market around him. Wroclaw residents walking past are often heard saying 'Dialogomir, go for a walk!' — but he has yet to take the advice. According to the official description, he leads 'a very unhealthy lifestyle' and is a cautionary tale about sedentary living.

History & Significance

Dialogomir was created by sculptor Grzegorz Lagowski and installed in 2012 on plac Solny at no. 6/7A (GPS: 51.10969, 17.02917). Plac Solny is one of Wroclaw's most characterful squares — a historic salt market turned all-day flower market, just a minute's walk from the Rynek. His position at the entrance to the Schron (an underground space) places him in the social heart of the square, surrounded by other dwarfs including Krasnalka Demokracja and the Slupniki Solne on the lampposts.

Inspiration

Dialogomir was designed as a gentle poke at modern sedentary habits — the glued-to-the-screen, phone-in-hand lifestyle that was becoming the norm in the early 2010s. His name blends 'dialog' (dialogue, conversation) with a Slavic suffix, suggesting a dwarf who is all talk and no action. The armchair and television set make him instantly recognisable and beloved by families, who delight in telling him to get off the couch.
