Story

Hania i Antoś are a paramedic duo who work together as 'Ratownicy Medyczni'. In the photo, Hania has long, windswept hair under a cap and a wide-eyed, hopeful look, while Antoś has a big beard that spreads out over his uniform, a long moustache and a pointed cap. Their uniforms have pockets and a chest emblem, and they stand side by side, ready to help.

History & Significance

Wromap.pl lists Hania and Antoś as one group called Ratownicy Medyczni (Paramedics) at Oławska 31, made by Beata Zwolańska-Hołod and appearing on 12 December 2020. I found no second source for the author or the date, and no sponsor. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful anti-communist protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls. The first bronze dwarf, Papa Krasnal, was unveiled in 2001, and in 2005 the city commissioned sculptor Tomasz Moczek to make five more, which started the collection that now numbers well over 800.

Inspiration

Their name for the group, Ratownicy Medyczni, means 'paramedics', and the uniforms in the photo support that. No source says who commissioned them or whether they honour a specific emergency service, so I make no claim about that.
