Story
Kirklandysta lives indoors, inside the main building of the University of Wrocław at plac Uniwersytecki 1. In the photo he stands against a warm yellow wall, a bearded little fellow with a cap, one arm swung high over his head and the other stretched out to the side, as if caught in the middle of a very energetic gesture. Visit during opening hours of the building, and remember that Profesor stands only 3 m away.
History & Significance
Wromap.pl lists Kirklandysta at plac Uniwersytecki 1, inside the building, made by Marlena Zakrzewska and appearing on 31 May 2019. I found no second source for the author or date and no sponsor. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful anti-communist protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls. The first bronze dwarf, Papa Krasnal, was unveiled in 2001, and in 2005 the city commissioned sculptor Tomasz Moczek to make five more, which started the collection that now numbers well over 800.
