Moteusz is the world's most well-travelled yarn enthusiast, a dwarf who has rifled through the finest wool from east to west, handled the most exquisite knitting accessories money can buy, and still felt that something was missing. A chance conversation beneath a linden tree led him to the knitters of Nadodrzé, who told him about a magical place at pl. Staszica 20 — the e-dziewiarka yarn shop. He arrived, wound his enormous beard into a ball of yarn (it is, according to legend, the very ball he carries), and has never left.
History & Significance
Moteusz sits at pl. Stanislawa Staszica 20 in the Nadodrzé district, in the shopfront window of e-dziewiarka.pl, Wroclaw's beloved specialist yarn and knitting accessories shop. He was installed on 2 February 2014, making him one of the earlier Nadodrzé dwarfs. The sculptor was Piotr Rychel, with the casting by Piotr Makała. Nadodrzé is one of Wroclaw's most characterful districts — a historic neighbourhood undergoing gentle regeneration, full of independent shops, murals, and a thriving creative community.
Inspiration
E-dziewiarka.pl, an online and physical yarn shop based in Wroclaw, commissioned Moteusz as the store's own krasnal mascot.
