Story

Rodzinka is not one dwarf — she is four. At ul. Rajska 71, outside the 'Mama i Ja' health clinic, a whole family of Wroclaw dwarfs has taken up permanent residence: a father, a visibly pregnant mother, a child, and a child in a pram. Created by the prolific Tomasz Moczek, the quartet is the most family-friendly group in Wroclaw's entire dwarf collection, and an unmissable stop for parents visiting the city with little ones.

History & Significance

Rodzinka was commissioned by the 'Mama i Ja' (Mum and Me) clinic at ul. Rajska 71 in the western Fabryczna district, a medical centre specialising in gynaecology, obstetrics, and children's health. The four-dwarf group reflects the clinic's core mission: caring for mothers-to-be, new mothers, and their children. Sculptor Tomasz Moczek — Wroclaw's most prolific dwarf creator — captured the warmth of a small family in four separate figures that together tell a single story.

Inspiration

A maternity and children's health clinic is the perfect sponsor for a family of dwarfs. The group composition — expecting mother, father, young child and baby in pram — mirrors the stages of family growth that the 'Mama i Ja' clinic accompanies. The name 'Rodzinka' is the affectionate Polish diminutive of 'rodzina' (family), and the four figures together create one of the warmest and most touching scenes in Wroclaw's outdoor gallery.

Fun Facts

  • Rodzinka consists of four separate dwarf figures: a father, a pregnant mother, a child, and a child in a pram — making it one of the most complex dwarf compositions in Wroclaw.
  • All four were sculpted by Tomasz Moczek, the artist who also created the very first five Wroclaw dwarfs back in 2005.
  • Their sponsor, the 'Mama i Ja' clinic, specialises in gynaecology and children's health — giving the family theme a beautifully literal meaning.
  • At around 10 km from the Old Town, they are one of the furthest family-friendly dwarf groups from the city centre.
  • Children visiting the clinic are reportedly fascinated by the baby-in-pram figure — a rare dwarf even smaller than all the others.

How to Find This Dwarf

Take tram line 7 or 9 towards Nowy Dwór and alight near the Rajska stop, then walk to ul. Rajska 71. The 'Mama i Ja' clinic has clear signage; the four dwarfs stand near the entrance. The area is residential and quiet, with good pavement access. A car is convenient but not necessary if you plan a tram trip.
