Story

Vertiguś is Wroclaw's coolest jazz musician, stationed outside the legendary Vertigo jazz club at ul. Oławska 14. He plays the trombone and was unveiled on 30 April 2016 — International Jazz Day — to celebrate the world's most colourful musical tradition. Every time a note drifts out of the club's door, Vertiguś is ready to join in, brass instrument gleaming in the street light.

History & Significance

Vertiguś was installed on 30 April 2016 to mark International Jazz Day, in front of the Vertigo jazz club at ul. Oławska 14. His name is a playful blend of 'Vertigo' (the club) and the typical Wroclaw dwarf suffix '-uś', with a nod to vertigo — the giddy feeling that great jazz can induce. The Vertigo club is one of Wroclaw's oldest and most respected jazz venues.

Inspiration

Wroclaw has a rich musical dwarf family: Śpiewak Operowy and Balerina outside the Opera House, the entire Philharmonic Orchestra of dwarfs at the National Forum of Music, Grajek at Oławska 11, and Meloman nearby. Vertiguś joins this musical family as the jazz representative — the blue-note voice among the city's bronze musicians.
