Story

WOTuś stands guard at ul. Świętej Elżbiety 1/2, and he is the only dwarf on the street dressed like a soldier. He wears a beret with an eagle badge, bushy eyebrows and a trimmed beard, and he carries a rifle across his chest while grinning with his eyes half closed. The playful story is that he guards the neighbouring dwarfs through the night, so Śpioch and Pożarki can sleep without worry. Salute him, and see whether he stays serious.

History & Significance

Wromap.pl credits Arkadia and gives 25 September 2022 as the date WOTuś appeared, the same day as Mistrz Krasnal. He stands about 5 metres from Weteran, a dwarf at the same address, and close to Śpioch and Pożarki, two well-known dwarfs on the Old Town trail. The dwarf tradition he belongs to grew out of the Orange Alternative protests of the 1980s.

Inspiration

His name is a diminutive of WOT, the abbreviation of Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej, the Territorial Defence Forces, a volunteer branch of the Polish Armed Forces. The beret with an eagle badge and the rifle fit that identity. He is a good example of how the dwarfs mirror the life of the city.
