Zdrowodziej wears a big, warm smile and a stethoscope draped around his neck, and he holds the round listening end out towards you as if he is about to check your heartbeat. Do not worry, the only thing he is likely to prescribe is a good walk between dwarfs.
History & Significance
Zdrowodziej stands at Grabarska 1 in Wrocław's Old Town. No sculptor or sponsor is publicly documented in the sources we found. The same site lists the appearance date as 6 December 2022. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grow out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, peaceful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has been filling its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.
Inspiration
The stethoscope points to a health theme, but we could not find a source saying who or what Zdrowodziej is meant to honour, and no sculptor or sponsor is documented. The name seems to play on the Polish word for health (zdrowie), though that reading is ours and not from a source.
