Story

Mis Mokrej Łapki is officially a dwarf, but everyone who sees him immediately notices: he is very clearly a bear. A small, round, endearing bear with one perpetually wet paw, sitting outside Cafe Rownik on ul. Jednosci Narodowej. Nobody knows exactly why his paw is always damp. Some say he dipped it in the fountain of wishes; others insist he simply enjoys splashing about. Whatever the reason, the tradition says that touching his wet paw yourself will grant a wish — so his paw gets wetter and wetter with every visitor.

History & Significance

Mis Mokrej Łapki lives at ul. Jednosci Narodowej 47 outside Cafe Rownik, a remarkable cafe in the Nadodrzé district where staff members with intellectual disabilities serve as baristas and waiters as part of their therapy. The cafe has been operating since 2018 and was recognised among the 30 most creative places in Wroclaw in 2019. The dwarf-bear connects the warmth of the cafe's mission with the Wroclaw tradition of bear-like mascots, evoking the beloved Polish cartoon character Mis Uszatek.

Inspiration

Cafe Rownik commissioned Mis Mokrej Łapki to reflect the cafe's gentle, inclusive spirit. The bear form (rather than the standard dwarf silhouette) was chosen deliberately: bears are universally associated with warmth, safety, and unconditional affection — perfect for a place where vulnerable adults create meaningful connections through their work. The name 'Mokrej Łapki' (of the wet paw) gives him an irresistible quirk that invites interaction.
