Story
Bombardier lies flat on his stomach on top of a long, smooth bronze shape that looks like a railway carriage, with his boots kicked up behind him and his chin resting over the edge. His pointed cap sticks up and his face wears a wide, mischievous grin, as if he were racing along the track. The figure sits on a low stone edge beside a planting bed, so it is easy to miss unless you look down.
History & Significance
Bombardier stands at Fabryczna 12 in Muchobór Mały. The sculptor is listed as Grzegorz Łagowski, and wromap.pl gives 6 December 2016 as the date it appeared. The dwarf tradition began in 2001, when the Orange Alternative monument (Papa Krasnal) was unveiled on Świdnicka street, and the city has kept adding bronze dwarfs ever since. The sources I found do not say who commissioned or sponsored it.
Inspiration
The name matches Bombardier Transportation, the rail-vehicle manufacturer that operates in Wrocław (wroclaw.pl reported a new production hall for it opening in November 2016, the same year this dwarf appeared). The sources I found do not confirm that the company sponsored the dwarf, so treat the link as likely but unproven. The railway theme itself is clear from the carriage he lies on.
