Story
Dworzan 2 has decided that the best waiting room is the lawn. He lies on his back in the grass with his pointed cap tipped aside and his beard pointing to the sky, completely at ease while the world rushes to platforms around him. Leaves drift past and he does not mind. If you pass by on a sunny day, you will see why he thinks he is the wisest traveller of the three.
History & Significance
Dworzan 2 appeared on 1 June 2012 at Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego 105 and was made by Marta Mirynowska, who also made Dworzan 3; Dworzan 1 is by Tomasz Moczek. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, non-violent protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has been filling its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them. We found no sponsor.
Inspiration
The address is that of Wrocław Główny railway station, and wromap.pl titles this figure "Leżący na trawie" (lying on the grass). The photo agrees: a bearded dwarf lies on soil and grass looking up. The name Dworzan probably plays on dworzec, the Polish word for station; this is our reading and no source states it.
