Story
Flebuś waits at Powstańców Śląskich 82a, about 1.9 km south of the Market Square, and he is a dreamer. In the photo this dwarf boy in a flat, pointed cap tips his face up to the sky with a hopeful look and holds one arm out to the side, as if testing for rain or ready to catch something falling. A small bench edge shows in the corner of the frame and a busy road blurs behind him. Imagine him on a quiet errand, always looking up.
History & Significance
Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, non-violent protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls. Since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them. wromap.pl credits the sculptor Sebastian Obst, while the Polish Wikipedia list gives the author as unknown and names an Aldi shop next to his entry at the same address. The sources disagree about the author, and I found no date for him in either.
Inspiration
No source I found explains who or what Flebuś is meant to be. Polish Wikipedia names an Aldi shop beside him, but that may only be the shop he stands outside. The photo shows a boy with an upturned face and an outstretched arm.
