Futbolista Tekelek (the Footballer Tekelek) wears a helmet with a face guard and stretches out an arm as if about to catch or throw. He stands at al. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego 35 in Zacisze-Zalesie-Szczytniki. In the photo the helmet and padded shoulders look like American football gear, and his small face peeks out from the cage. Behind him you can see pink bags and a light building.
History & Significance
wromap.pl lists a dwarf called Takelek, also written Futbolista Tekelek I, at al. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego 35, with no sculptor and no appearance date. It also lists a separate Futbolista Takelek II at Ujeździec Mały 80, which explains the number I in the name. We found no second source and no information about who commissioned him. The address Paderewskiego 35 is given by Polish Wikipedia for neighbouring dwarfs as the location of the Stadion Olimpijski.
Inspiration
The name means the footballer, and the helmet in the photo is that of an American-football player, so the theme is a sport played with a helmet and padding, not ordinary football. We found no source that explains the name Tekelek.
