Story
Keszerek is a dwarf explorer with a map, a compass, a headlamp, a GPS and a pen, and he guards a secret hidden in the heart of the Market Square. He stands at Rynek 42 on the eastern side of the Rynek, and legend says he is the first dwarf in the world to become a geocacher. He wanders the alleys searching for treasure, and he always signs the logbook with a tiny dwarf signature. Look closely at him and at his surroundings, because somewhere nearby sits a small box that only careful, quiet explorers can find.
History & Significance
Keszerek was unveiled on 28 June 2025 at Rynek 42, after many months of effort to obtain permission for a geocaching dwarf in the city centre. The local geocaching group Wrocławskie Geoludki created him together with the hidden cache GCB2WR0, and the dwarf was funded through a public online collection. He is billed as the first geocaching dwarf in the world. Like every Wrocław dwarf, he belongs to the tradition that began with the Orange Alternative, the 1980s protest movement whose members painted dwarfs on walls.
Inspiration
Keszerek is a tribute to geocaching, the worldwide outdoor treasure hunt in which people use GPS to find hidden containers called caches. The dwarf represents a community that creates adventures instead of waiting for them. His name is a playful diminutive of 'keszer', the Polish nickname for a geocacher. He also guards a real cache, a letterbox hybrid with the code GCB2WR0, hidden in plain sight on the main square.

How to Find This Dwarf
From the Old Town Hall, walk about 130 metres east to the eastern side of the Rynek and look for number 42. Keszerek stands next to Kacuś, who is only a few metres away. If you are at Dzioopelka, the ice-cream dwarf, walk about 40 metres north. If you go cache hunting, be discreet, put the box back exactly as you found it and sign the logbook with your own name. Your mission: spot three other dwarfs without moving more than 20 metres from him (Kacuś, Poeta and Kowal are all that close), and be a quiet explorer if you look for the cache.
