Story

Listonosz, the Postman, lives indoors, which is fitting for a dwarf who belongs to a museum of post. His bronze is polished to a golden shine, he wears a cap with a pointed tip and a long beard, and he flings his arms wide as if greeting every visitor who comes through the door. Say hello and imagine all the letters he has delivered!

History & Significance

Listonosz stands inside the Museum of Post and Telecommunications at Zygmunta Krasińskiego 1. wromap.pl, the Polish Wikipedia list of Wrocław dwarfs and the travel site grupabiwakowa.pl all name Beata Zwolańska-Hołod as his author, and wromap.pl says he appeared on 24 October 2008. Grupabiwakowa.pl says he stands in the museum hall by the ticket desk. Wrocław's dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful, peaceful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.
