Story

Milkuś I can be found at Czekoladowa 1A, Bielany Wrocławskie, just south-west of Wrocław. The photo on wromap.pl shows a bearded dwarf with a cap pulled down over his forehead, holding an object I could not identify in front of his chest, next to a glass door. His twin Milkuś II stands only a few metres away, inside the building.

History & Significance

No sculptor, sponsor or unveiling date could be found for him. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; the city began commissioning bronze dwarfs in 2005, and local businesses and institutions have added many more since. Milkuś I is one of the dwarfs outside the historic centre. Who commissioned this dwarf is not publicly documented in the sources we found.

Inspiration

Czekoladowa means 'chocolate' in Polish, and Czekoladowa 1A is the address of a Mondelez research and quality centre according to company-listing pages; his name may nod to the Milka brand, but no source confirms that. The sources we found do not describe a specific story behind this dwarf.
