Story
Oazuś is the most relaxed dwarf in Tarnogaj. He lies on his back on a block of speckled granite with his arms tucked behind his head, a big beard spilling over his chest and a contented, half-closed-eye smile on his face. A green patina has collected in the folds of his beard. Nobody here is in a hurry, and he invites you to slow down too.
History & Significance
Oazuś stands at Nyska 70 in Tarnogaj. The sculptor is listed as Piotr Makała, and wromap.pl gives 2 February 2016 as the date it appeared. The dwarf tradition began in 2001, when the Orange Alternative monument (Papa Krasnal) was unveiled on Świdnicka street, and the city has kept adding bronze dwarfs ever since. The sources I found do not say who commissioned or sponsored it.
Inspiration
The name echoes the word 'oaza' (oasis), and a dwarf lying down to rest fits the idea of a calm spot in a busy street. That is a reading of the name and pose, because the sources I found do not explain the dwarf or name a sponsor.
