Story
PeCeK is a veteran with a big moustache, a pointed cap and a cord looped round his neck that looks like a stethoscope. One hand is raised, as if to make a point or to tell you where it hurts. He stands in front of a weathered grey building on Bujwida street, looking at passers-by with a doubtful, knowing look.
History & Significance
wromap.pl credits the sculptor Marlena Zakrzewska and dates the dwarf to 8 November 2023, giving the address Bujwida 34. No second source for the date, the sculptor or any sponsor was found. The tradition began with the Orange Alternative, a playful 1980s protest movement whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.
Inspiration
The sources do not explain the name PeCeK or say who commissioned him. The photo shows a moustached dwarf with a tube-like cord around his neck that looks like a stethoscope, but no source confirms that or links it to the building he stands in front of.
