Story

Planetuś has a face full of kindness and laugh lines. A soft, brimmed hat sits on his head, his eyes are almost closed in a broad smile, and in front of his chest he holds a big, five-pointed star as if he has just caught it from the sky. He sits on a pale stone block beside a red post and a bright green fence, so he is easy to spot among the greenery.

History & Significance

Planetuś stands at aleja Jana Kasprowicza 89A in Karłowice-Różanka. The sculptor is listed as Tomasz Moczek, and wromap.pl gives 11 June 2025 as the date it appeared. Tomasz Moczek is the sculptor the city commissioned in 2005 to make its first five dwarfs of the modern series. The dwarf tradition began in 2001, when the Orange Alternative monument (Papa Krasnal) was unveiled on Świdnicka street, and the city has kept adding bronze dwarfs ever since. The sources I found do not say who commissioned or sponsored it.

Inspiration

The name suggests planets and the sky, and the star he holds fits that theme. The sources I found do not explain the dwarf, so the astronomical idea is a reading of the name and the photo, and no sponsor is named.
