Story

Wromeo sits on a bench with red wooden slats, wearing a floppy cap and a curly moustache. He stretches one arm out and holds up a small rounded object towards Julianka, who sits right next to him with a heart in her hand. Sit down beside him and guess what he is offering her!

History & Significance

According to wromap.pl, Julianka and Wromeo stand together at Świętej Jadwigi 3/4 as part of a bench that the site calls 'ławka WROC-lovka', and their authors are Sebastian Obst and Beata Zwolańska-Hołod. We did not find an appearance date or a sponsor. Wrocław's dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful, peaceful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.

Inspiration

Wromeo and Julianka together sound like a playful nod to Romeo and Juliet, with the 'W' perhaps standing for Wrocław. No source we found states this, so take it as our reading of the names rather than a fact.
