Story
Wygodek-Swobodek stands inside a building in Bielany Wrocławskie, just outside Wrocław, at Francuska 6, about 7.6 km from the Market Square as the crow flies. What you will see: a bearded dwarf in a tall pointed cap, tilting his head back with one arm flung out, photographed indoors against a grey wall and white floor tiles. We describe only what the photo and the sources show - no legend is attached to this dwarf in anything we found. Take a moment to look at the small details, and if you are visiting with children, ask them what the dwarf might be thinking about. The statue is inside a building, so check that the building is open before you set off.
History & Significance
Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace their origins to the Orange Alternative (Pomarańczowa Alternatywa), a peaceful protest movement founded in the city in 1986 by Waldemar Fydrych, whose activists painted dwarfs on walls as a form of absurdist, non-violent resistance. Since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them, far beyond the old centre. The sources we checked give no author and no appearance date for Wygodek-Swobodek. Who commissioned this dwarf is not documented in anything we found.
Inspiration
The name joins two Polish words: wygoda (comfort) and swoboda (freedom, ease), so it can be read as "comfortable and carefree". That is our reading of the name; no source we found explains the theme or who sponsored him.

How to Find This Dwarf
Put Francuska 6 into your map app: Wygodek-Swobodek is about 7.6 km from the Market Square, so plan this as its own trip rather than a stop on the Rynek walk. Once you are there, Justa is 111 m to the west and Ajdik is 492 m to the north-east, so you can collect several dwarfs in one outing. The statue is inside a building, so check opening hours or access first. This location is outside Wrocław's city limits, so allow extra travel time.
