Story
Yunnanek is a bearded dwarf with pointed ears and a calm, half-closed gaze. In the photo he holds a small, round object with a knob on top close to his chest, cradling it carefully as if it were something precious. Take a close look and decide for yourself what he is guarding.
History & Significance
wromap.pl lists this dwarf as Yunnanka (also Yunnanek) at Piaskowa 17, names Piotr Makała as the author and gives 3 November 2016 as the date he appeared. We did not find a sponsor or a second source. Wrocław's dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful, peaceful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.
Inspiration
The name sounds like Yunnan, the Chinese province, but we found no source that explains the name or says who the dwarf honours, so we leave the meaning open.
