Story

Złoty Krasnal can be found at Małopolska 5, the Leśnica district. The photo on wromap.pl shows a dwarf in a wide-brimmed hat with a long-handled tool over his shoulder (it could be a pick or a shovel), standing among tall grass. His name means 'Golden Dwarf', but the statue is dark bronze.

History & Significance

wromap.pl credits Małgorzata Marek and Marcin Michalak and gives the appearance date as 27 June 2016. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; the city began commissioning bronze dwarfs in 2005, and local businesses and institutions have added many more since. Złoty Krasnal is one of the dwarfs outside the historic centre. Who commissioned this dwarf is not publicly documented in the sources we found.

Inspiration

His name means 'Golden Dwarf'; the bronze itself is dark, and no source explains the name. The sources we found do not describe a specific story behind this dwarf.
