Story

Cognexik stretches one arm out in front of him, as if he is pointing something out or holding something up to the light. He has a bushy moustache, a flat cap and, if you look closely at his shirt, the letters of a company name. He stands in the Business Garden office complex on Legnicka street, a step away from his neighbour BeDeusz, as if the two had arranged to meet.

History & Significance

The dwarf stands at Legnicka 48f in Business Garden. wromap.pl gives neither a sculptor nor a date. The city's business pages report that Cognex, a global supplier of machine vision systems, rented about 500 square metres in building F of Business Garden. The tradition began with the Orange Alternative, a playful 1980s protest movement whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.

Inspiration

The name is a diminutive of Cognex, and the photo shows what looks like the letters COGNEX on the front of his shirt. Cognex is a global supplier of machine vision systems with an office in Business Garden. Who commissioned the dwarf is not confirmed by the sources, but the match with the company is hard to miss.
