Story

Dolbik grins into his beard with one hand pressed to a pair of headphones, the cable trailing down his back, as if his favourite song has just come on. His pointed cap seems to have letters on it, and the ones you can make out look like the start of his own name. He stands on the paving of the Business Garden complex, almost shoulder to shoulder with Etteplanek, and nobody seems to mind the noise.

History & Significance

wromap.pl credits the sculptor Piotr Makała, dates the dwarf to 17 October 2017 and gives the address Legnicka 48g. It does not name who commissioned him. The tradition began with the Orange Alternative, a playful 1980s protest movement whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.

Inspiration

The sources do not explain the name Dolbik or say who commissioned him. The photo shows a bearded dwarf listening through headphones, with letters on his cap that appear to begin his own name.
