Story

Elementek is a cheerful dwarf who points straight at you with one outstretched finger, as if he has just spotted something important. A small gold coin sits on his sleeve, so who knows what he has been up to. He lives close to Lunetyk, who is only a few steps away.

History & Significance

Elementek stands at ks. Piotra Skargi 1 in Wrocław's Old Town. No sculptor or sponsor is publicly documented in the sources we found. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grow out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, peaceful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has been filling its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.

Inspiration

We could not find a source explaining who or what Elementek honours, and no sculptor, date or sponsor is documented. His name echoes the Polish word 'element' (a component or building block), but that is only our reading of the name.
