Story
Esdermiki is a little scene rather than a single dwarf. A bearded dwarf in a pointed cap leans forward with a large magnifying glass, studying something closely, while a second figure waits beside him. The listing on wromap.pl names the pair Esdermik and Pacjent (the Patient), so it looks like a consultation in miniature. Lean in next to the glass and you may see yourself enlarged.
History & Significance
wromap.pl lists Esdermiki as a group of two figures, Esdermik and Pacjent, at Powstańców Śląskich 121. It gives no sculptor and no date, and no other source does. The tradition began with the Orange Alternative, a playful 1980s protest movement whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.
Inspiration
The sources do not say what Esdermiki stands for or who commissioned the group. The photo shows one dwarf bent over a large magnifying glass, and the group's second figure is called Pacjent (the Patient) on wromap.pl. Any further link, for example to a medical business, is not confirmed.
