Story

Farmacjusz is the neighbourhood pharmacist. He stands in a pointed cap, with a trimmed beard and a warm, patient face, and holds up a big, oblong tablet-shaped object with raised lettering on it, as if showing you the right dose. One tablet this size could cure any dwarf on the street.

History & Significance

Farmacjusz stands at Ziębicka 40 in Tarnogaj. The sculptor is listed as Beata Zwolańska-Hołod, and wromap.pl gives 1 April 2011 as the date it appeared. The dwarf tradition began in 2001, when the Orange Alternative monument (Papa Krasnal) was unveiled on Świdnicka street, and the city has kept adding bronze dwarfs ever since. The sources I found do not say who commissioned or sponsored it.

Inspiration

The name and the tablet-shaped object point to pharmacy and medicine. The sources I found do not name a sponsor (a pharmacy or drug company might be involved, but that is unconfirmed) and do not explain the lettering on the tablet, which I cannot read clearly in the photo.
