Story
Hostelik can be found at Porębska 1, the Leśnica district. The photo on wromap.pl shows a bearded dwarf in a pointed cap fixed to a rough-plastered wall, arms stretched out to the sides as if climbing or hanging on. Unlike most dwarfs he is mounted on a wall rather than standing on the ground.
History & Significance
wromap.pl credits the sculptor Marlena Zakrzewska; no unveiling date was found. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; the city began commissioning bronze dwarfs in 2005, and local businesses and institutions have added many more since. Hostelik is one of the dwarfs outside the historic centre. Who commissioned this dwarf is not publicly documented in the sources we found.
Inspiration
His name looks like a play on hostel. The sources we found do not describe a specific story behind this dwarf.
