Szpitalnik can be found at gen. Augusta Emila Fieldorfa 2, the Leśnica district. The photo on wromap.pl shows a bearded dwarf with a serious look who, in the photo, wears a knitted red hat and a red-and-turquoise scarf (added by passers-by, not part of the bronze). In the photo he wears a knitted hat and scarf, a sign that someone dresses him up.
History & Significance
wromap.pl credits the sculptor Piotr Makała and gives the appearance date as 8 June 2018. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a playful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; the city began commissioning bronze dwarfs in 2005, and local businesses and institutions have added many more since. Szpitalnik is one of the dwarfs outside the historic centre. Who commissioned this dwarf is not publicly documented in the sources we found.
