Story

Moravian is a smiling dwarf with a long beard and a tall pointed cap, and he holds something round close to his chest. wromap.pl also lists a second dwarf, Moravian II, standing only about 6 m away, so keep your eyes open and you may spot both.

History & Significance

Moravian stands at plac Jana Pawła II 22 in Wrocław's Old Town. wromap.pl credits Marlena Zakrzewska as the sculptor. The same site lists the appearance date as 24 August 2024. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grow out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, peaceful protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls; since 2005 the city has been filling its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.

We found no source explaining the idea behind the name Moravian, and no sponsor is documented. The name alone suggests nothing certain, so we make no claim about it. What the sources do say is that the sculptor was Marlena Zakrzewska and that he appeared in August 2024.
