Story

Pex i Flex are a pair, and the photo shows one of them: a bearded dwarf in a deep hood, hugging a long ribbed tube with a gloved fist and peering out with a thoughtful, slightly squinting look. The tube looks like a flexible pipe, the sort a plumber would carry, and the hood makes him look ready for any weather. Wromap.pl also lists Pex and Flex on separate pages, so the figures may be set a little apart.

History & Significance

Pex i Flex stand at Legnicka 55F in Pilczyce-Kozanów-Popowice Północne. The sculptor is listed as Tomasz Moczek, and wromap.pl gives 10 June 2025 as the date they appeared. Tomasz Moczek is the sculptor the city commissioned in 2005 to make its first five dwarfs of the modern series. The dwarf tradition began in 2001, when the Orange Alternative monument (Papa Krasnal) was unveiled on Świdnicka street, and the city has kept adding bronze dwarfs ever since. The sources I found do not say who commissioned or sponsored them.

Inspiration

The names Pex and Flex and the ribbed tube point to plumbing and heating installations; PEX is a common plastic pipe material. That reading comes from the name and the photo only, because the sources I found do not explain the dwarfs or name a sponsor.
