Story

Podolodzy are the foot doctors of the dwarf world. Podolog is the Polish word for a podiatrist, and wromap.pl lists three of them in this group: Arkadek, Stópka and Abratek. The photo shows one of them, a broadly grinning bearded dwarf in a tall pointed hat, standing in front of a red-brick wall and a white air-conditioning unit. They stand at Na Grobli 30/32, about 2.3 km east of the Market Square.

History & Significance

Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, non-violent protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls. Since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them. According to wromap.pl, the Podolodzy group was made by Piotr Makała and appeared on 21 April 2018 at Na Grobli 30/32, where access may be limited by a barrier, fence or gate. A search result lists the podiatry centre Podoland at the same address. I found no second source for the date and none that names a sponsor.

Inspiration

The name Podolodzy is the Polish plural of podolog, a podiatrist, and a search result lists a podiatry centre called Podoland at the same address, so the group clearly nods to foot care. No source I found explains the idea behind the three individual dwarfs.
