Story

Servelia is an indoor dwarf. In the photo we see her from behind: curly hair under a pointed hat, a jacket, and a laptop open in front of her with a few letters on its screen. She sits on a round, polished dark disc in a bright lobby, with potted plants and a lift door in the background, as if she were working through a support ticket.

History & Significance

Servelia is at al. Wiśniowa 1 in the Borek district. Wromap.pl gives the date 16 November 2016 and says the dwarf is inside the building. It does not name a sculptor, and we found none in the other sources we could check. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs trace back to the Orange Alternative, a peaceful, absurdist protest movement founded in the city in 1986 by Waldemar Fydrych, whose members painted dwarfs on walls. Since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them.

We found no source that says who sponsored Servelia or what her name stands for. Her name looks like a blend of 'service' and a feminine ending, and the laptop in the photo shows letters that look like 'serve' - this is only our reading of the photo and name, not a documented fact.
