Story
Hydrek is a dwarf with a catch, standing on ulica Na Grobli, about 1.8 km east of the Market Square. In the photo this bearded dwarf in a cap has a big fish tucked under one arm, its fins and tail sticking out, and a curved metal pipe or hose looping out from his other fist. Whatever he has been up to with the water, he looks very pleased with the results. Imagine him announcing that supper is sorted and the pipes are fixed, all in one trip.
History & Significance
Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, non-violent protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls. Since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them. According to wromap.pl, Hydrek was made by Beata Zwolańska-Hołod and stands at Na Grobli 17. I found no source for the date he appeared or for who commissioned him.
Inspiration
His name starts like hydro, the prefix for water, and the photo shows a fish and a pipe or hose, so a water theme seems likely. That is my reading, though. No source I found says what organisation or place he is meant to represent.
