Story
Leprokonus is a wide-eyed, long-nosed dwarf who carries a big wooden barrel on his shoulder, decorated with little stars. In the photo he grips the barrel with one arm and stretches the other out to balance, his beard spread across his chest, as if he were delivering something precious. He stands at Krawiecka 1F, and BEAnka II is just 35 m to the south.
History & Significance
Wromap.pl lists Leprokonus (alternative name Liwrus) at Krawiecka 1F, made by Artur Wochniak and appearing on 27 September 2017. I found no second source for the author or date, and no sponsor. Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful anti-communist protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls. The first bronze dwarf, Papa Krasnal, was unveiled in 2001, and in 2005 the city commissioned sculptor Tomasz Moczek to make five more, which started the collection that now numbers well over 800.
Inspiration
No source explains the name Leprokonus or its alternative Liwrus. 'Liwrus' hints at a liveried servant or a delivery theme, but that is a guess from the name; what is certain from the photo is the barrel with stars.
