Story
Spektrek is a cheeky dwarf in Szczepin, about 1.7 km north-west of the Market Square. In the photo he grins with a gap-toothed smile under a flat cap with a pointed tip, one arm holding up a large bronze plate covered in tiny relief figures like a trophy. He looks as if he has just won something and wants everyone to know. Stand beside him and see how many little figures you can count on the plate.
History & Significance
Wrocław's bronze dwarfs grew out of the Orange Alternative, a playful, non-violent protest movement of the 1980s whose members painted dwarfs on city walls. Since 2005 the city has filled its streets with bronze dwarfs, and there are now hundreds of them. wromap.pl gives the address Młodych Techników 58 and warns that access may be limited by a barrier, fence or gate. It names no sculptor and no date for him, and I found no other source that does.
Inspiration
No source I found explains the idea behind Spektrek. His name suggests something to do with a spectrum or spectroscopy, which would fit a technical street, but that is only a reading of the name, and no source confirms it. The photo shows him holding a large relief-decorated plate.
